How children learn and grow
Children learn best when they are given the freedom to make mistakes without judgement. When they know that they are not in a race to achieve milestones, they tend to thrive. Giving children the space and freedom to learn at their own pace is important for them to enjoy the process of learning. This would set them up on a path of lifelong growth. Early years have a significant impact on the lives of children and so, it is of utmost importance that children get to explore and go on their individual adventurous path of learning. The curiosity in them needs to be nurtured and encouraged. Pre-nursery classes that focus on small group learning aim to help children develop their individuality.
The role of personal attention
It is easy for children to feel invisible and small. It takes conscious efforts on the part of the adults in their lives to ensure they feel seen, heard, and valued. Learn at their own pace – when children are given individual attention, they tend to have the freedom to learn at their own developmental pace. They are free to interrupt in cases where a concept seems difficult without the fear of being judged.
Enhances their focus – one-on-one attention makes the child aware of the attention that the educator is giving the child. This inevitably encourages their focus and guides them to be attentive to the topic being taught.
Helps to identify talent – since the educators are paying close attention to each child, it is easier for them to identify their strengths, weaknesses, and interests. This can further help them curate activities that can develop and help children in these areas better.
Creates interest – a generic instruction given to the whole group may not be effective for each child as they can be under pressure to behave a certain way due to the fear of judgement. This can further lead to disinterest when children find a certain topic difficult. However, when children are given individual attention, this fear vanishes. When the educators can identify and tap into the needs of children, it is easier to keep them engaged and interested.
Individual expression – children find it easy to express their emptions when they are not bound by too many rules and know that they have room to explore and make their own choices. This gives them an opportunity to figure out creative solutions to their problems.
Giving young ones the opportunity to flourish in their own niche helps develop their confidence levels. Nurturing their individuality is what would help them see and value their uniqueness and understand the role they play in the overall growth of the community.
